Equus Education Blog Hop – Equine Learning

November 1, 2015 by Christine Meunier 2 Comments

There is so much to be learned about horses, in so many different areas. The idea of this months’ blog hop is to explore that. So my question for you to consider is:

What interesting or unusual fact have you learned about horses whilst working with them, caring for them or riding them?

What Have you Learned from Horses?

That’s it! Write your post about equine learning and be sure to link it back to this post and leave a comment indicating you’re taking part in the blog hop. Then I’ll include a link to your participating post here. Happy writing!

Equus Education Blog Hop: Horse Travels

October 1, 2015 by Christine Meunier 2 Comments

This month we’re looking at the topic of travelling and horses. I have one question for you to answer in as few or as many words as you’d like:

If you could travel anywhere in the world for something horse related, where would it be and what would you do?

Where Would You Travel?

Perhaps you want to attend a particular horse event, ride in a certain country, learn a type of riding, see the home of your favourite breed or even study horses. Let me know!

  1. Create a post on your site focused on Horse Travels.
  2. Start the post by indicating that you’re taking part in a blog hop over at Equus Education (http://www.equus-blog.com/equus-education-blog-hop-horse-travels) and be sure to link Equus Education to the website address in brackets.

Agist Now Agistment Site

September 10, 2015 by Christine Meunier Leave a Comment

For those not familiar with this term often used in Australia, agistment means paying to keep your horse (or other stock) on someone’s land. Like a form of boarding or livery. It may involve stables and other features like rugs on and off and horses being fed, or it may just be paying for access to pasture (paddocks).

People will Pay to Keep their Horses on Someone Else’s Land.

Agistnow.com offers a place online where you can put in your desire for a particular type of agistment, or raise the awareness to others of what you have to offer in the form of agistment.

Offering a place where people can pay to keep their horses is a possible horse career choice; offering a service where people can find out about it is an out of the box way of establishing an online horse career.

Strides for Success – Audio Lessons

April 22, 2015 by Christine Meunier 1 Comment

I’ve just stumbled across these guys on Twitter and have consequently checked out their website.  I love the concept!

We create audio horse riding programs that you can download and listen to from the comfort of your own saddle, on your horse…  Just like having an instructor there with you… Oh, and they are fun to listen to as well!

If this idea piques your interest, I encourage you to check out Strides for Success.  We really do live in a day and age where you can turn your passion for horses into a unique business idea!  Have you?

“What a creature he was! Never have I felt such a horse between my knees. His great haunches gathered under him with every stride, and he shot forward ever faster and faster, stretched like a greyhound, while the wind beat in my face and whistled past my ears.” – Arthur Conan Doyle

Wish Upon a Unicorn

January 5, 2015 by Christine Meunier 1 Comment

Wish Upon a Unicorn by Vicki Blum

Nine year old Arica felt there was something unusual about her grandmother, but it wasn’t until a visit to water some plants resulted in her slipping through a crack and into another world, that she realised her feelings were fact. Having been kidnapped by two trolls, Arica discovers a world of unicorns, elves, fairies and evil trolls.

As Arica is taken through this unusual land astride a captured unicorn, she questions what the trolls could possibly want with a human girl. When they arrive at their destination, she is dismayed to find that she will continue to be held captive, enslaved to work in a mine. To make things worse, the elves that are also enslaved, want nothing to do with her.

Arica finds assurance with the captive unicorns, but cannot explain how she can understand their thoughts. Desperate to escape and get back home, Arica is determined to befriend the elves and find a way home, and the reason she came to be in this unusual land that has an evil fairy who seems so familiar.

Wish Upon a Unicorn is a great adventure about a young girl with an unusual gift. It is fast paced and finishes well. I have no doubt it will appeal to the younger reader.
