It may be of no surprise to readers of this blog that I love collecting horse books. The greater scheme of owning so many horse books is to have a library available on my hubby’s and my future property so that horse crazy kids can read about horses when they’re not out working and playing with them.
I’m a bit behind on the ebook phase, but am currently researching methods to make my novel available this year (I finished writing it it Februrary!).
I have a copy of iBooks on a work iPad that I was able to download for free, and decided to research how books are displayed as an electronic copy. A search in the store for horse brought up many books that are available to download for free!
- A Horse’s Tale by Mark Twain
- Funny Horse Cartoons – Exposes the Truth written and illustrated by Kay Thornton
- Dexter the Last Navy Horse by Valarie M. Vine
- The Legends of Arth – the Horse in the Night by Randy Massey
I’ve downloaded 7 books at this stage, including those listed above. Many have been free short stories, but one is a non fictional piece and two are the length of novels. I’m up for even more reading!
For those who have iPads or a kindle or another form of technology in which they can access eBooks, I’d encourage you to do a search for free horse books – who knows what gem you may find!

“I was lying, bolstered up in bed, reading, when I heard a rush of flying feet, and in an instant, with a loud joyful neigh, she checked herself infront of my window.”
